These videos are a series of tutorials that are aimed at getting KS2 students creating a range of games and activities using Scratch. It's starts of with a simple story/joke telling scenario to introduce the layout of Scratch but then goes on to cover 4 complete game builds with scoring systems and extension strategies for your brightest students. The games include beetle smash outlined below (akin to "whack a mole"), a top down racing game, a catch game and a dog chasing a cat game. There are over 80 videos in total and they are kept deliberately short so instead of the students simply repeating what has been done on the screen, the videos will set a task for your students to do. Don't worry if they find it a little tough there is a solution video for them as well. This way no-one gets left behind but hopefully no-one simply copies without understanding what is going on. Below you will find all the videos for beetle smash, however some techniques will have been taught in previous videos and the scoring systems and extension tasks will be introduced in latter videos that are not covered in the sample below. All in all it will keep your students busy for many lessons.
